Problems with GPL/VROC

by Andrew Hollo » Tue, 16 Jan 2001 01:43:09

Hello,

I recently downloaded and installed WinVROC. All seems well with the chat
side of it, but "Host Race" and "Join Race" are permanently greyed out and
there are never any servers displayed.

Does anyone know why this is, and what I can do to get it configured
correctly?

Thanks in advance,

Andrew.

PS Could however responds via the newsgroup please also CC me

Make sure your vroc.ini has this entry:

[VROC]
Address=209.53.20.177

-Greg

Think this happens if you dont have a player set up in GPL.   You must
also have the 1.2 patch for GPL from papy.com and the temporary fix
from vroc.net.

Problems with GPL/VROC

Greg,

Thanks for the help, but I cannot find a vroc.ini file anywhere! I assume
that it should it be in the WinVROC installation directory? Why do you think
I do not have one?

All suggestions gratefully received!

Thanks,

Andrew.

The vroc.ini file comes from the permanent fix that you can find at the
vroc.net site.  Get that file then open the vroc.ini file and change the
second line to  Address=209.53.20.177 save that file, then in VROC use the
VROC drop down menu, go to options and reset the path to GPL using the
folder button, even if it looks right, close and restart VROC.

Ah Ha!

I created a VROC.INI file and put those lines in it, and hey presto it now
works! The funny thing is that before this was done, the VROC MOTD dialogue
was empty and now it isn't and tells you how to fix the problem!

Thanks again Greg,

Andrew.
