VROC & GPL problem

by Ped Xin » Fri, 29 Nov 2002 14:32:33

Hi all,

I did a Google search and checked the help file but didn't see this
addressed.

When I join a game from VROC, in GPL my controller settings get messed up
-- it gets thrown into single axis mode from split axis.  Even if I try
to recalibrate in-game I can't get throttle/brake working.

However, if I join GPL normally the controller works fine.  So VROC is
screwing it up somehow.

I am selecting the correct driver profile, and in the area where it says
"override force feedback settings" I am NOT checking that.

My wheel is a Logitech Momo (original version).

Anyone know what's going on?  Thanks!!

I've seen this problem brought up here before I think.
IIRC it is down to the wingman profiler, which is set to gpl.exe, but when
entering a race from vroc you need to point the profile at something else.

Sorry I can't be more specific :-(

I've just done a quick google groups search on "vroc wingman profile*"
(without the quotes). The first couple of hits suggest creating a profile
for vroc itself:

I had the same problem which was quite annoying, and my solution to it
was to create a profile in Wingman Profiler called WinVROC and pointed
it to the Winvroc.exe file in the Winvroc folder. Now everytime I
execute Winvroc it loads the profile with it. The problem with the
wingman profiler is that it launches the profile if you actually start
the program yourself, if an application is used to start GPL ( like
WinVROC)then Wingman Profiler doesn't know it is running and therefore
the profile isn't loaded into memory even though Wingman profiler is
in memory displayed on your system tray.

Cheers.

Mauricio

Thank you!  I'll give this a shot.

In case this has bitten anyone else on the arse, here is the solution:

---
to get the MOMO (or any logi wheel using the profiler) to work with GPL
in winVROC you need to make a profile associated with the GPLLaunch.exe
file in the winVROC folder.

make it identical to your GPL profile and you won't notice the difference
or need to recalibrate.
---

So you have to point the profile to GPLLaunch.exe and not vroc.exe.
Another workaround is to apply your GPL profile as a "Persistent
Profile".
