GPL-Problems: Direct Imput vs. Optimized control

by holysmok.. » Tue, 09 Jun 1998 04:00:00

Hello,

Just DL'd the GPL demo. Pretty neat so far. It shows the demo as
version "0.0.0.5" (?)

When I launch the demo, the game automatically starts my
dial-up-networking (to my ISP). Hmm. Pressing ESC stops it.

Also "Optimized" control-input does not want to work, But "Direct
Input" works fine.

Every time I load the demo, it starts-up the DUN, then defaults to
the "Optimized" calibration menu. It seems to work, but my mouse is so
screwed up, it takes about 10 minutes just to move the mouse to the
dang "Okay" button. Then another 3 minutes to switch from Optimized,
to Direct-Input. Then everything is fine (control inputs work great!).

Is there an .ini  or .cfg  file that I can edit, so the GPL demo will
default to "Direct-Input" control when loading?

If not, why would the demo start up DUN to my ISP, and why would the
mouse (basically) not work in Optimized control? I have no
device-conflicts in dev-manager. I know this is an alpha demo, so it's
to be expected I guess.

Geez if the A/I cars are good in GPL, this should be good!

 Thanks, Matt

GPL-Problems: Direct Imput vs. Optimized control

The conflict between the mouse and the optimized driver is probably due to
using a gamecard. I use the CH gamecard and I had the same problems with the
mouse locking up. The best solution is to use the direct driver but if you
must use the optimized driver and you have a game port card set it to its
lowest setting. For example if I set my CH game card to 0 I will not have
mouse locking up problems.

Thanks
John
