RSC Demo Controller Question

by bertr » Mon, 25 Nov 2002 00:56:37

I just installed the RalliSport Challenge Trial and can't get my LWFF to
work.  First, I don't get any configuration screen for the wheel within
game except to adjust deadzone and (I think) sensitivity.  Then when I
start the game, as soon as the flag drops, I accelerate at top speed
BACKWARDS.  During this time, turning the wheel does not turn the car.
By the time I back into the guard rail, the game then freezes, although
the (annoying) sounds continue.

My system is an Athlon 1700XP running Win98SE, with a Radeon 8500LE
videocard and an SBLive soundcard.  The LWFF is located on ID#1 and is
configured for Split-Axis.

Any ideas on what the problem might be?

Thanks!

FWIW -- I tried combined axis, but the result is the same.  I'm glad I was
able to try the demo before buying this game.  As is the case with most
Microsoft games (at least in my experience) it doesn't work out of the box.
It's amazing how the same company that creates the operating system can't
get their entertainment products to work properly within that operating
system, while other 3rd party software works fine.  (MS Combat Flight
Simulator 3 is a case in point.  That product has to be tweaked to an
incredible extent before its playable, and it installs a new version of
DirectX without even asking you first.  On my system, that DX upgrade is the
reason that I can't run TIR.)

Oh well.  At least I didn't shell out any bucks on this.

So, does anyone have any ideas on how I can get this to run properly?

RSC Demo Controller Question

It does run straight from the box/download.

You are just so chuffin stupid...!!!!!!!!!!

You clicked OPTIONS i presume...?  Well done..just about within your
capability.

Then you saw the keyboard with an arrow to the right showing a wheel, you
OBVIOUSLY moved to the right so that the wheel is now highlighted.

At the Controller screen where you have so observantly spotted the Deadzone
and Sensitivity settings, you also have so gormlously missed the CONFIGURE
CONTROLS setting.......did you not...?

Then when you OBVIOUSLY clicked the button to CONFIGURE your wheel.....you
then proceeded to write a load of ***about the game just because you are
one thick individual.

Of course you can alwaya apologise for the rant, when you realise it was you
and not the game.

Lets analyse...

The game gives you an OPTIONS button.

Then within options is a CONTROLLER option.

Then within controller is a CONFIGURE controller option.

Not too much wrong there in anyones opinion.

You half wit.

No, I won't apologize for the rant -- especially not to an a__hole like you.

I will apologize for not noticing the Configure Controller button first though
and I do thank you for the information you provided.  But that still doesn't
mean you're not an arrogant jerk!

Piss off.
