GPL + MX300

I experience pretty bad static, pops and clicks when playing GPL on my
mx 300. I have downloaded the new drivers from Aureal (2035) but it
didn't seem to make any difference. I have tried just about every tweak
out there but none have solved the problem.

I am trying to find out if this is wide spread for Vortex 2 users or is
there just a few isolated cases. For those that experience the same
problem I have posted a message on the forum at http://www.racesimcentral.net/
and someone connected with A3d is now looking into it. If you
experience these problems, add your support at the forum.

Haven't experienced this at all with my MX300.  However, I am not using the
Aureal reference drivers either (last time I tried, they hosed my
system...whee).  I am using the latest Diamond MX300 drivers and haven't had
any problems at all.

I had a similar problem when I re-installed my SBLive card, and it
turned out that I hadn't selected the SBLive as the default wave output
device, so it was going through some kind of naff SB16 emulation mode.

Perhaps the same thing has happened with your MX300?

Not sure where this option lives - somewhere in control panel, I think.

I am using the MX300 with the new 2035 drivers and have had no problems
with the sound. I know that isn't much help but at least you know that
it does work on other mx300 with the 2035 drivers

This isn't what you want to hear, but I used Diamond's drivers up until a
couple of days ago when I installed Aureal's latest reference drivers.  No
problems with GPL--or anything else--with either set.  My guess is that your
problem is relatively isolated and more related to something in your system
rather than with the MX300.

If you have #sounds set to 16, knock it down to 15.  This fixed the static
problem on my MX300.
