Can anyone tell me if this is normal? I have a 166 and a 90 null
linked at 57600. They connect fine, but when we go out racing,
we have these huge freeze ups. Sometimes lasting a second or
more. Very frustrating. I must say tho, two player head to head
is an awfull lot of fun. I have tried all speed from 9600 up.
Thanks -=Don=-

I have constantly connected a P5/133 to a P6/200 via cable.
We have NEVER experienced any "freeze ups". I would suggest
that you check the port speed settings. We keep ours at 115600,
I believe is the setting.
We connect at 57,600 with both machines on COM2.
The only slow down we get is when one of the cars is in the
sand or if one is in the pits.
We do lower the detail by "one click" or "one bar" in the
***pit setting. It runs very smoothly for us in direct
connect and I would estimate that we are in the 15 frames range,
perhaps higher. It is NOT stand alone speed, nor is it as good
speedwise as NASCAR or ICR2. It is, however, better overall than
the two mentioned due to the features that GP2 has, including the
physic model, curbs, sound...etc.

Good luck, there should be a solution to your problem.

We are also having these freeze ups with 120 and 150 Mhz Pentiums
linked. Lowering the baud rate from maximum down to 19200 seems to help
a little.

We are using two 120's and link them at 9600 without any freeze ups.
Maybe the big speed-difference has a part in it. Be sure to make te 90
the leader though, because the 'follow'er gets a big load of work to do.
Also make sure (i.e. by reducing the fps/details) that both pc's can
handle the sim without going into slowmotion.

This was the biggest help. By making the 166 follow, we got in four
full laps at Monza with only one slowdown, and it really wasn't the
freeze up we had been having before. But know I notice something I
have read here before. When the other car gets into trouble in the
gravel or something, my frame rate goes way down. Oh well, I'm not in
competition with them at that time anyway <G>
Thanks for the help -=Don=-

controller . You can do that by using msd .

Try starting gp2 with the option 'nortscts' and 'use16550'
Set your comport speed at no higher than 38400.
19200 works fine with me.
