null-modem link probs gp2 oops wrong account :) mail me not hannah !

I have tried to link up gp2 over a null modem cable, the cable has pins
2-3 crossed and 7 straight through. It works fine with quake, duke
nukem3d,but in gp2 it links the machines goes through all the options
and then hangs as soon as you go to the cars, well it doesnt get to the
cars one monitor sits with the map of the track and the other has a
blank screen then the connection is terminated.on machine is a p166 the
other a 686 120,both versions of gp have the no cd crack and 97 carset
patch, has anyone got any advise or have they noticed the same problem
 with these patches ?
thanx for any help in advance !
ps the game was installed from two baught copies of gp2, so they are
not
 the same version or anything

Check the port and IRQ settings of COM 2 (I assume you are using this one).
Check that your modem doesn't conflict with the IRQ. Could easily happen if
you are using COM 4 under Win95. (It will work fine under Win95, but NOT
with GP2 on most systems)
Besides that, there should be no problems, unless the games has been
patched differently. In that case you might experience strange behavior
after connecting.

Getting irritated hooking up GP2 modem link?! Just wait till you finally
get it working only to find out that the modem link cuts the "already"
contreversal framerate in half!

-(yeah, yeah), David Gary-
