Theoretically, two copies are required. The game checks for the CD
during startup and when a track has been selected, even if you have
chosen 'full installation'. But unless you want to hear music during
the race (which comes from the CD, I believe), it is sufficient to
change the CD two times before you can race. The game will prompt you
when it expects the CD to be inserted.
Note: I do not support pirating games, since I am fully aware that no
one will make decent games unless people *buy* them. On the other
hand, I think it is ridiculous to expect folks to buy two copies for
an occasional multiplayer game. There are ways to have copy protection
*and* multiplayer support at the same time. "Warcraft II" allows up to
three people to play a multiplayer session over an IPX network with
only one CD. For the single player game, the CD has to be inserted.
"Command & Conquer" has two CDs in the box, so each player in a null
modem play can have one of them. Why doesn't GP2 feature a similar
option?
