That is more like the experience that we have had. I reported it as the
lag when one guy is in the dirt. It also happens when one guy is up on
the jack in the pits, you are quite correct. I do NOT see any other
lags though...not in our/my experience. Therefore, if both of you
manage to stay on the track, for the most part, it is pretty smooth.

OK OK, Yesterday we said that the direct link was to slow....
Well, actually it is, but the game is so absolutely fantastic, that you
accept the drop in frame-rate.
But lets face it !!!!
You need heavy hardware to run this game, with just a minimum of SVGA
details turned on. Maybe its a bug in the game |-), but even at
framerates well over 20, you suddenly experience a dramatic drop in
frame-rate.
Try the following....
Direct link on ex. Imola. Run a quick-race. Player A ***s up... Takes
Schumacher out ;-). When player A enters the pit (to check the oil), the
framerate drops, and drops, and drops... Jack the car down, and suddenly
the framerate is up again. Straaaange....
After playing the game for two hole days (and two hole nights), I accept
the lack of graphic performance, simply because the game is outstanding,
and the cars, crashes, buildings, environment, looks just like the real
thing.
This game is very very VERY much fun to play...

It was the same in F1GP, when on a direct connect.  If you go in the
pits, everything grinds to a halt, dunno why, but its not something
new to F1GP2.

Hi !

Perhaps I'm wrong but if memory serves me well (which is very unlikely
at this point of the year ;-) the same happened with F1GP. 2 years
ago I grabbed my brother PC and I connected it with mine (serial link)
in order to race with some friends (using F1GP) and I noticed the
same effects; when one of the two players went to the pit, the
"racing" one suffered of the same slowdowns you mentionned above.

Perhaps is the PIT code which demands too much CPU power ... dunno .

Saludos,
Roberto
