As a Brit I'm gonna have to wait to get the game. Before I order it can
someone please tell me if you can save mid-race. Thanks in advance

No?! Damn! That means nothing short, meaningless races except for the rare
moment when I have three-and-a-half hours to spare (ie: never). :(

LOL, I was thinking the same thing.

I have paused the game on long races and alt-tabbed out for hours and then
gone back and raced some more.

It only sucks when you go to reboot and forgot that you had a race going :)
But if I forgot, I must not have felt like racing anyways :)

When Papy first started getting away from the save game feature, I was upset
as well, but after a while it was like - why ? If I didn't have time to sit
down and run a 100% race, I just set the dang thing on 50% or whatever I
felt I had time for. If I got interupted, I hit the pause key if I really
wanted to go back, if not I just exited.
Save game just doesn't mean as much to me anymore, and when you think about
it, all the new things this physics engine brings, imagine how difficult it
must be to program a save game feature that saves literally every aspect at
that moment in time of that race. I would much rather see the programmers
efforts put elsewhere.
