Non Nascar, Midtown Madness w/wheel & pedals question

by Ron R. » Thu, 27 Jan 2000 04:00:00

Hello,
Took a break from the numerous Nascar sims to try out Midtown
Madness, Chicago Edition by Macrosoft <G..

It says it supports wheel and pedal setups. But I have run into a
maddening prob. I use a CH Racing wheel with CH Pedals. The wheel
works fine (except that since tried a recalibration the 2 front
buttons no longer register), But the only way the pedals work is as
follows:

Gas = both pedals down (will gas w/right down only but keeps brakes
on)
brake = left pedal up right down (still creeps as gas stays on)
reverse = both pedals up
park = lift both pedals, then left pedal down

Only way to stop completely without backing is to lift both pedals,
then when almost stopped depress left pedal and apply parking brake
(button)

As said, wheel part worked great till tried recal, now face buttons no
joy.

It uses the win95 calibration.

Setup has been flawless for 4 years in nascar sims, N1, N2, NR1999,
Legends, as well as with NFS 1,2,3, & 4.

Help!! This is screwing me up for my league nascar feel.

Thansk
Ron

Your screwed, as it will not recognize your CH pedals.  MMM was not tested
with wheels and has problems with it's own Microsoft game controller.  That
was their excuse back a year ago, maybe a patch fixed this but the game went
back to them because of such thing.  And it's not the only sim, all
Microsoft racing games have this problem with 4axis. I still cannot race
RC2k because they do not see I have 4axis.

Btw you have the EXL500 with those CH pedals?

It won't run even with split-axis pedals, even though the in-game
calibration screen recognises them.....very sloppy.

Midtown Madness runs perfectly with my MSFF and always has.

So,
Has anyone ever considered a class action on behalf of all
purchasers based on the obviously false advertising on the package,
ie: "Microsoft Mouse or compatible pointing device; DirectInput 6.0
API-compatible joystick OR STEERING WHEEL recommended" (emphasis mine)

EXL500????
