thought that was all it would do but MaximumPC claimed it would go 1280x960
and i would like to see that. It recognizes my video card in the options
screen but is still limited.
Thanks.

I have a TNT card and i had the same problem as you.
however I found a way to get around it.
in your Midtown Madness folder there is a file called video.cfg
In this is stored all the information about your graphics card and supported
resolutions.
I discovered what to do by comparing my friends file (he has TNT as well)
who does not have this problem
First open this file.
its a little hard to read but the on the first line there should be a string
like: RendererCount=2 :RendererChoice=1
I'm assuming you don't have a Voodoo card or you will have 3 renderers.
the rendererchioce=1 bit means its using the second renderer (it counts from
0)
this should be the TNT card.
next there will be a whole load of stuff about the software renderer,
skip this till you get to the string that goes something like:[Nvidia Riva
TNT2]
this is where stuff about available resolutions is.
at the very end will be the string: ResChoice=(a number probably 5)
just before this are the resolutions you can use like 640 480 etc.
you will see that the resolution you are using corresponds to the number
I found that simply copying my friends file across didn't work because some
of the numbers are different and it just ran the configuration program
again.
but i could copy bits of the file across that corresponded to the
resolutions
note that after the numbers 640 480 there are more numbers, these are
important as the tell the game what reolution to use
simply copy some of the numbers below over the resolution choices you will
never use (eg 320x240)
then make sure that ResChoice is set to the one you want and save the file
(back it up first)
800 600 43130368
960 720 41863168
1024 768 41291776
1152 864 40038400
1280 1024 38146048
1600 1200 34490368
I found that only 800x600 worked properly
also the code numbers for the resolutions may not work for you because you
have a TNT2 (they are very similar cards)
if this is so then try and get the numbers of someone else.
