GP4 with new video card hmmmm

Well today a supplier gave me a MSI FX5200 to try.
This has that Geforce fx5200 with 128MB memory.
I am not too impressed. It seems GP4 still only wants 9fps when
allowed to auto set the fps.
If I try & manual set it even with most things low or off & the frame
set at 15-20 I am at 200 PO
does anyone out there actually run GP4 at a good clip with the
graphics on?
Just curious ;-)

Thanks

First off, that Celeron isn't helping things.  But still, you'll have to
tweak your brains out to get acceptable frames in GP4.  And the whole
process, menuing and and whatnot, is counter-intuitive in GP4.  The game's
not worth the trouble, particularly when you have F1C.

go to the forum at grandprixgames.org and ask for a graphics config file...
it will make a huge difference.

Not played in a while, but
runs 1280x1024 4xFSAA no problem. At race start mid pack, get ~80-100PO

Tried dropping your resolution?

Thanks for the reply,
I have two demos the EA F1 championship season 2000 & the EA F1 2002
work in progress demo. The 1st one is very dark with no real
adjustment the second seems very arcade like in the drive model.
Although  the second one has great graphics the the feel is lacking
IMO.I will play with the setup more.
Is F1c one of these?

Thanks very much! I went & got this from the site you suggested.
http://homepage.ntlworld.com/roache/files/f1graphics.cfg
Very nice & a PO under 100

Also this helped too....
0 ; [MAIN VIEW] Enable static environment reflections (0=>off 1=>on) v3
change that 0 into a 1

Thanks again

F1C is F1 Challenge, the last and by far the best of the EA F1 games.

Thanks

Yes.  And I don't think there is a demo of F1C.  The physics model in F1C is
a lot different from the previous versions.  In particular the downforce
level in F1C is more realistic.
