new pedals or new video card?

by Adria » Sat, 25 Sep 1999 04:00:00

I have a home built p2 266 with a 12 meg v2 card and a matrox millenium 2 8
meg agp for 2d.
What would be the better buy?
new pedals ($300 for the ones i want including the wheel)?
video card? (v3 3000 or 3500 or riva tnt 2 ultra)
I only have a p2 266 so I won't notice the video card enhancement all that
much because the video card is going faster than my cpu.
I do plan on upgrading to dual p3's in the future (yes i have a motherboard
that's capable and yes i know i need nt or 2000) so i will get the benefits
of the new video card then, but by then even better video cards will be
available.
I'm leaing towards the pedals, what does everyone think?
thanks!

Pedals, definately.  No way would I buy a gfx card now that would only be of
any use months down the line.  To me, that's massive false economy.

or you could get the v3-2000 (no tv)
AND
a slightly less expensive wheel
It may depend opn the games/sims you run too.

I second that opinion, if you play a good deal of racing sims/games.
Otherwise, get the graphic card first.

no point in a v3-2000 if you've already got Voodoo2 - it's not a sensible
way to spend money!
