F1 2001 Performance Suggestion

I just changed my graphics settings with excellent results and wanted to
share.

I was running F1 at 1024x768 32-bit with No FSAA (not available in 32-bit).
I thought it looked very good and was satisfied with 60+ fps test and 30+
(usually 40-50) fps race with full graphics, full field, at Monaco.

Just for the hell of it, I tried 1280x960 16-bit with Quincunx FSAA.  Let's
just say after this I'm never going back to 32-bit in F1.  I truly don't see
a difference.  The only difference to me is that it's MUCH nicer looking
now.  The FSAA and higher resolution is far more important than 32-bit
textures.   At this level my performance is slightly faster than the 32-bit
settings above (75+ fps test 35+ fps race).

I'm happily racing at higher resolution with a much smoother look (FSAA) and
no performance hit.  Give it a try.

System:
AMD 1600+
512 MB Ram
GF3 Ti 500
MOMO FF Wheel

Which drivers are you using?

We tried 1024x768 16-bit Quincunx on my friend's GF3 Ti200 with 23.11
drivers and the game wouldn't start properly - just got a flickering
desktop.

P.S. This game seems to have more than twice the image quality on a GF3 than
on a GF2.  Not sure why.....

I'm using the 23.11's.  Make sure you just set Quincunx using the card, do
not check FSAA in the 3d set-up for the game.

I haven't seen GF2 vs. GF3 but I can say GF3 is much nicer looking that on
my old V5.
