Hi

I have tried several times to get this game to work
and now finally ( almost gave up ) I have found
the way to really get going

Just my 2cents worth for anyone still struggling

1) get the latest patch

2) edit config.ini to show system rating =5

3) Just before running the race, do the FORMATION LAP
THIS IS CRITICAL if you want a decent start of the race

so far, I have experienced no slow down using this method eversince.

my system is cel450 with 64mb ram & TNT

Thanks and regards

This did nothing for me when I tried it a couple of months back.

Hmmm.  If the slowdown you refer to is due to disc accesses when scenery is
being loaded, I can rationalize why the formation lap might help (scenery gets
loaded then, rather than on the first race lap).  But I don't think it would
improve framerate per se, just the disk access problem (which is certainly
non-trivial!).

Thanks for the tip.  It's cheaper than "buy more memory" :-)

Ditto. I even tried it after I got my P3-600E.

Correct, but to the un-trained eye if could be interpruted as framerate.
Also, I have 128MB of ram and still have the texture loading problem.

I haven't been able to race lately though, so my memory may be
a little fuzzy :-)

yEAH

I did these changes as a last resort
failling which I would head for the sdram
upgrade
but thankfully it has worked

still I would like to get my 128mb when
the price is right

these days it has good thru the roof and
should be there until end DEC 2000

sigh

hi Greg

nice to read your mssg

hmm perhaps the term decent framerate is subjective
I get around 20 ~26
but at the start it goes down to 9
but could still manage to
drive and maintain the lead .....

TEXTURE must be set to medium

I found texture did play a BIG part

I am running 22 cars showing
player car high
other cars low

strangely for me, pitlane objects on or off
did not do anything to the framerate

????
