GPL Still crashing in win2000

by Stan Mars » Mon, 09 Apr 2001 01:17:31

I have a problem where GPL crashes after a lap or two.  I believe it is the
sound card (SBLive) as it didnt happen before I installed liveware 3.
Previously I was using native windows drivers.
I've removed the card and it seems to work ok, but it just makes my driving
terrible . . . er.  I'm using the 1.2 and D3D patches on a TNT2 (Nvidia
drivers 6.18) DX8, LWFF (3.65).
I uninstalled liveware and went back to the old drivers but it still crashes
I tried in software mode, still crashes
I tried reinstalled GPL, still crahes
Anyone had similar problems - or ideas?

I needed my sim fix this arvo so I installed viper (no go!) NFSPU
(porsche.exe is a 16bit prog - no go? ) Colin Mcrae (9x required) so I ended
up watching a movie instead =(

Thanks for replies
Pete

I doubt if it's the SB live as it's so popular that this problem would have
come up many times before. The SB-live and liveware 3 should work fine with
GPL in both Win98 and Win2K. It's far more likely to be a problem with your
system setup. It may be that you are getting conflicts when you but the SB
live in. Try using a different PCI slot and make sure that there are no
conflicting IRQ's. If you really need it to work with GPL (for most of us
here we'd do anything to get GPL working) you may even need a re-install of
windows.

Good Luck
