No, it does help.  I picked up abt. 2 sec./lap when I got my ECCI four years
ago.  No kidding.

2 seconds per lap would put me up there with the above average drivers.

Maybe, but I'd wager you're a better driver than I am, and therefore better
able to take advantage of the better quality equipment.  Although I've never
driven an ECCI(and probably never will have the opportunity), so it may be
apples-to-oranges.

I'm still not sure about that. :)

Well, I put it out there and got six other people. A bunch of folks said
they wanted a league like that, but only a handful ever signed up.  
People kept saying build it and they will come" - well I built it and
nobody came.

It looks like y'all only have a good time when it's a road-course race
(cautions off and GPL-style separation of competitors).  

And since you poked your head out from under your rock, I'll add that
your letter to certain competitors to essentially shape up or else was
uncalled-for. I've been racing against ZZ for almost seven years in both
GPL and Nascar Racing, and his performance and attitude on the track
(and off) has never been an issue with me, and you'll probably find
dozens of other people that will say the same thing.

I don't know who else got your email, but I'm sure they didn't earn that
kind of treatment either.
