Well, two seconds at the Isle of Man, not Bristol.

I'm not much above average, and then only because I prolly have 3,000 hours
in the game.  I only stopped driving it at least an hour a day when all the
roadies came out for N2003.

Really? News to me. With regards to yellows, we had one really bad race at
the beginning of the new season, but have averaged just 5.8 yellows per race
in the others (including an 8 yellow Bristol race which some still thought
was a great race). That's pretty damn good considering we are
running 50% races now, and have added a significant amount of new drivers.
Word of mouth has been bringing new, good drivers into RASCAR from other
leagues this season. They wouldn't be joining us if they weren't having a
good time in our races.

Our road course races have been excellent, and there has been fantastic,
very close
racing up front and throughout the field.

I don't remember anyone from RASCAR describing it that way in our
discussions at the forum or in RASCAR committee e-mails. They said things
like we "worded it so it wouldn't offend anyone" and that it "was probably
the least harsh thing that could have been done". They said that something
had to be done after Rockingham, and they'd rather
have a private polite letter than a public rude post on ras about their
driving. Not one RASCAR member complained about the letter except for ZZ,
and one driver who received it. That one driver later said, "I apologize for
bringing the whole thing up" (his protest) after reviewing a replay. Another
recepient said he "earned his letter", and appreciated the way we handled
things (privately and politely, not rudely in public). The third recepient
never commented publically or privately, so I don't know how he felt, but he
has been driving very well since that letter was sent. Might be a complete
coincidence, or maybe it helped a bit. Don't know.

ZZ never even received a letter, so you two ought to communicate better in
the future.

We've made changes that have improved the racing in RASCAR. We added
Teamspeak which has helped the drivers become more friendly and respectful
of each other. They can also communicate their intentions better on the
track, and explain their view of any incidents (or even admit fault)
which helps calm tempers during a race. It creates a good atmosphere for
racing.

The races are for points, which encourages everyone to look at the big
picture instead of going for it all in each individual race. Drivers
approach these races more seriously and intelligently (using caution is a
big part of this) because they are working towards a goal of a good overall
finishing position in the standings.

We run practice races before the main race.

There is a two self spins and park it rule.

The whole group has a say in what happens now. Just last week I wanted the
off week road course races to count in the points standings (for a number of
reasons). Mitch didn't. We had a vote, and my idea was voted down. I wasn't
happy about it at all, but that's the way we do things now.

The group is doing a great job on and off the track, and your comment that,
"It looks like y'all only have a good time when it's a road-course race
(cautions off and GPL-style separation of competitors)." is just more
bullshit.

Normally, I can do/buy whatever I want, but with such a big ticket item
($1130 after shipping), it's best to make sure it can be bought without
straining the household finances.  That's not being ***-whipped -
that's being smart.

Please share with us what SWMBO stands for again?

IMO the most important thing about a wheel under the pure driving aspect
is the pot quality and characteristic. ECCI are certainly using some of
the best. But I think especially their new USB gadget will help make you
faster. I remember how the PDPI card made me faster back then.

But the best wheel is nothing without good pedals, and that's where for
me ECCI excels particularly. If their E6000 were FF and if my E3000
weren't so good already, I'd probably be tempted :)

I've clung desperately to an outdated mobo for my GPL 'puta simply because
it had an ISA slot for the PDPI card I deemed part n' parcel of my ECCI
setup.

I bought a PDPI back then when they were the hot trick.
I never noticed any performance improvement.

Maybe you didn't have it set up properly.  Tricky to set up, but once right
(particularly w. the ECCI, which sometimes required hairy Registry edits)
resulted in a huge improvement in smoothness.  Not only did it calm the
typical game-port "jitters" but the PDPI also had a much higher sample rate
(making the steering a lot less notchy) while simultaneously decreasing the
CPU occupancy, giving you a higher frame rate as well.

Or maybe you just weren't old enough to drive.  (The PDPI was a looong time
ago.)

I wasn't aware that registry tweaking was required. I guess that's why I didn't notice any difference.
I was definitely old enough to drive.
Back when I bought it, I was 39 years old...... an old timer by *** standards.....lol.
Maybe too old to drive fast. ;-)

Younger than Steve, and younger than me :) and definitely not too old to
be fast :)
