Maybe they're -too- real.  Anyone see the story on Andy Wallace in Autoweek?
He said his Grand Am Daytona Prototype requires 1100 lbs (!) of pressure to
fully depress the brake pedal, and (at a standstill?) he's only capable of
800.

Maybe there was a little misunderstanding on the part of ECCI when they
defined their parameters.

Because, you don't need to depress a brake pedal fully, ever, in a real
car. All you need is to get to where the brakes lock up, and that is
usually a lot earlier than at the fully-depressed position.

If you needed to depress the brake pedal fully to get the brakes to lock
up, you could be sure you had a brake fluid leake somewhere.

Anecdote.  Years ago Citroen decided that since pedal *pressure* was what
slowed the car down, why bother with mere*travel*?  So they installed a
pedal that looked like a hockey puck glued to the firewall.  It had zero
travel, but the harder you stepped on it, the more the car slowed down.
Everybody hated it, so they went back to a conventional pedal,

FF half a century to driving sims.  With a few notable exceptions (like
ECCI), we drive w. brake pedals where travel = deceleration and marvel that
it's hard to modulate the braking effort ("threshold lockup").  ECCI is
doing the right thing, but they may not have gotten the params right.
