GP2 and thrustmaster control problem?

by Billy Frase » Mon, 23 Jun 1997 04:00:00

I have a P200mmx 32meg ram mystic 4meg graphics card,32pnp SoundBlaster and
a thrustmaster t2 with thrustmaster game card.
When I set gp2 at 25+frs and switch off steering help I find it very very
difficult to keep the car on the road, infact I always crash.
Iam I doing something very wrong? The steering is just very sensitive
please please help as I think the if I could get the t2 to operate properly
then I would be able to get some fast times in? ex 1:17.500 at Monaco.

Go into the 'control method' menu and select 'advanced menu'. Now read
the manual (I don't know everything) about 'Reduce with car speed' and
'Low sensitivity zones'. Start playing around with these values until
you get good control.

BTW 1:17.500 is not really fast. I was able to do a 1:15.622 with the
same setup I won a 100%-race with (legally!, meaning almost no plank
wear).

Greetings,
Tim

1. Try to reduce the sensitivity settings in the control config screen
2. PRACTICE, PRACTICE, & PRACTICE SOME MORE!!!

GP2 and thrustmaster control problem?

Hi Billy,

please please help ... <<

Over sensitivity can be a real drivers nightmare in Gp2. I'm doing a web
page where I hope to explain as many things as possible about Gp2. Its
still fairly new but as it happens I've done the section about control
device setups and steering setups in particular. Try looking at
http://www.powerup.com.au/~philmak/GP2MAN/control.htm  . I hope it helps.
Let me know how you find it. Is it too detailed, not detailed enough, etc ?

be able to get some fast times ... <<

I don't know about fast times, but you should enjoy the game a lot more
with a good 'feeling' control device. Fast times come from, 1) Lots of
practice, 2) Good car setups, 3) Lots of practice, 4) yes, a good control
device setup, 5) Lots of practice, 6), A very intimate knowledge of the
circuit that you're racing on, which comes from, you guessed it, LOTS OF
PRACTICE !!

Hope this helps.
