GP2 problem with thrustmaster T1

by Olivier Crott » Tue, 23 Jul 1996 04:00:00

hello,

I am unable to calibrate my T1 in GP2. There is no problem with the
wheel but the pedal calibration is impossible. The programm ask to
start from center (value of 500-what is it? ohm? millivolts?) then
left (value 100) back to center then right. And when I push the pedal
to the right the value increase up to 780 at 2/3 of the pedal range
then the value read by the  programm drop to 0 making the calibration
range insufficient!
Anyone have this problem too? (It works fine with ICR2 and others
driving games). Also if people with a T1 and NO problem could answer
(by e-mail or here) this would be nice.

Thanks

Olivier

The only problem I had was that when I followed the instructions
during the calibration, my brake pedal made me go faster and vice
versa.   I did the opposite and it all works now.

I am not an expert but it sounds like your potentiometers are worn.
If everything works in ICR2 then that theory could be flawed.   I
assume that you have selected the correct 'brake' and 'throttle'
methods in the advanced setup.   The instructions for calibrating
wheel and pedals are very bare and this was also the case in GP1.

Keep trying and good luck.

Cheers,

Craig

My problem with the T1 is that during calibration, it'll tell me to
press fire when calibrated...I've hit all 4 buttons to no avail.  I've
steered left and right (I'd push/pull on the damn thing if it would
help!) and the program locks up tight.  (esc won't abort)

This is in MS DOS mode on my P100 (normally) running Win95

Oh, here's the quirk...My 'sticks (T1 & FCS Mk1) are connected to the
PC via a "Joyswitch" (lets you hook up to 4 sticks and 2 pedal
sets)...In the calibration screen, if I switch to the FCS, it works
fine.   (!!)

Anyone else with a hint/tip?

I've even tried the T2.CON file on the CD with no luck.

Hi John,

I had similar results when I was connecting my T1 to a SB AWE32 MIDI
cable.   Try removing your joyswitch and connecting the T1 straight to
the PC.  I think you will find that all will work OK.

Regards,

Ian.

I don't know if you all missed this posting or not, so I will repost it.
It works great for me!

How to Set Up a ThrustMaster T2
-------------------------------
From the main menu of Grand Prix 2:

1) Select "Control Method."
2) Select "Not Used."
3) Select "Advanced Menu."
4) Select "Joystick A Horiz" for Steering Device.
5) Select "Analog" for Steering Mode.
6) Select "Joystick B Horiz" for Acceleration Device.
7) Select "Analog" for Acceleration Mode.
8) Select "Joystick B Horiz" for Brake Device.
9) Select "Switched" for Braking Mode.
10) Select "Control Driven Calibration" for Control Method.

Do not touch any other settings. You can edit the set name to say "T2"

or "TMaster" and then save the file.

Now calibrate the device, and your T2 should work.
