F197 & Thrustmaster GP2 Problem

Hi
I have just bought Formula 1 97 and I am having a problem with the throttle
when using a Thrustmaster GP2 wheel and pedel set. The throttle seems to
give a stuttering effect (As if the pot is faulty) It seems to be fine on
all other driving games.
I saw a message on this group about a patch for a joystick problem I do not
know if it covered this problem.  Any ideas please?
