Best Nascar sim?

It's been such a time long since I've used this newsgroup properly.
Back in the days when I was a frequent visitor, Nascar Racing 3 was
the top Nascar sim, but we were all waiting with much anticipation for
the followup. And of course GPL was the mighty king! (has that changed
at all?)

But just by browsing some of todays subject I can see that there are a
few new Nascar sims I wasn't aware of. Which is best, and most
importantly 'why'?

The best NASCAR sim at the moment is NASCAR Racing 2002 Season by Papyrus.
It uses a modified form of the GPL engine and offers the most complete
racing experience. It is difficult to say exactly why it is the best. Once
you have raced with it you realise it just feels right. Online racing is a
particular strength with large fields handled very well. The tyre wear model
feels very good and provides a large strategic element to the sim provided
you join races which are long enough and have few yellow flags.

<snip>

Not really. Live For Speed is liked by most of us (though it's only
really a demo, it's a pretty well-featured one), and Racing Legends
(what emerged from the wreckage of WSC) could be awesome if it ever
gets finished (though likely to be *very* expensive - as much as a
wheel, at least). But most people who played GPL still do, and most
(DGF excepted, natch <g>) still rate it above anything else unless
they're *** NASCAR fans.

With all it's problems (such as brain-dead AI), Papy still leads the pack.

Those are not Nacar SIMS, but I suspect everyone noticed that.

Not that LFS isn't awesome.  It is, and it's a guaranteed sale to me when it
ships.

I would like to have Wyle-E-Cayote's arms removed from my in-car though :)
