The company that made RBR was bought by another company and directed the
focus of RBR team to making games for mobile devices. :(

That is really a shame, because RBR engine would have been really great for
another go it really deserves - maybe as Petter Solberg Rally or something
like that.

Does anybody know what game engine it used.. not meaning to steel your
thread..

The game and its engine was developed by Warthog. Publisher was Sci Games.
Gizmondo Studios then bought Warthog.

There is not much hope of ever seeing the RBR engine in any game.

What ever happened to the rumored 27km Japan stage?  The developers
seemed to be feeling for interest on how many people would like to see
it, then *poof* nothing :(.  I guess this is right around when they
were bought out.
There were some goings-on about a stage editor, and I think they'd got
it to where they could actually do something with the road geometry
instead of just the surface mods.  Don't know where that effort is now.
