Finally we have some action on the Richard Burns Rally web site
www.richardburnsrally.com

Its looking good for genuine sim enthusiasts. They're putting together an
online training centre at their site, emphasising that it'll take some
effort to master a realistic rally car.

Other news is confirmation that they're sticking with the utlra-realistic
physics, including engine (piston) based drive physics, including turbo lag,
and fully moddled wheels, brakes and suspension.

I've really got my hopes up for this - I hope for the best.

Very nice, but those pictures look thoroughly massaged.  I'll be absolutely
floored if it looks close to that in reality.  BTW, is it just me, or do
those two stretches look pretty different both in terms of slight elevation
changes and shape?  I saw at least one other "side-by-side" that was
similarly off.  Not that I care much.  It's just odd they wouldn't use more
similar pairs.

It looks amazing.  I wish they'd give us a nice 2 foot teaser movie
that doesn't have sped up footage.  The newest trailer is kinda
useless unless you flip through frame by frame.

The in-car shot of the hill from the Canberra rally (I think that
stage is called the Mine stage?) is absolutely terrifying.  I spent
some time trying to decipher the hud, and I was happy to see the
inclusion of a boost gauge.

My only concern was the apparent lack of a functional***pit, but
I'll be ok with simply having a slightly claustrophobic in-car view to
drive from with the gauge readouts presented on the hud (which fits
nicely on the dash - I like it).

[snip]

I think they'll have an in-cockpit view - sounds like it just hasn't
been finished yet - from the interactive car model on the website:
"Lifelike dashboard that gives information on vital car functions for
speed of access for both driver and co-driver.  Includes engine
temperature, oil pressure, RPM, gear position indicator and shift
light."

Roll on RBR!
