Hi all,

For a change, the TV coverage on ITV was very good.  Most incidents
covered and some excellent in car footage.  The bit with Panis behind
the Toyota of Salo(I think) was brilliant.  You could see how hard the
Toyota was working to stay ahead.

Also the footage included some excellent extra stats like the rev
counter and some extra fuel load info.

All in all, it kept the race interesting to watch.

Won't comment further in case some of you are catching a delayed feed.

Also, congrats to the winning Ryder Cup team.  Won't mention more for
same reason :)

Regards all,
istoff

Why am I paying 12 a race then if ITV get the digital feed now? Reasons
apart from DH's ever more ridiculous hair style please!

You're actually paying for the Digital feed..

Why?   The rest of europe pays less than HALF what you've paid per race.
You must LOVE being ripped off.

I am ( that's slowly becoming past tense however) a huge F1 fan - but I
would never pay 100% over the odd's to line the pockets of Murdoch and
Ecclescake

Especially when F1 of today is about as exciting as dental extraction.

Yep, complements to the US TV station responsible for the broadcast - this
was excellent footage, lots of interesting info, none of the interesting
things missing, yet not cluttered but fun to watch. F1 footage at its best
:)

BTW, I read Dan Gurney and Phil Hill are planning an all-american F1 team
for next year. I always thought that's what Villeneuve's team is about? Oh
yes, and Bernie seems to be thinking aloud about abolishing traction
control, start control and a few other electronic driving aids because, as
he says, F1 is not providing a good show. That might spread out the field
considerably again in some teams.

Glad your coverage was good, here in the States it was awfull.  I found the
announcers to be incomprehensible.  When you see three drivers sitting in front
of michrophones under bright lights with someone asking them questions, it's
not necessary to have the host talking over them explaining that this is the
post-race press conference.  Then they switch away from the press conference
halfway through to show a commercial we have already seen forty times during
the race.  Leave the racing coverage to Speed, the big three networks F it up
every time.

ABC's coverage in the 'States had to be the hands down worst autoracing
telecast ever. First they were losing the picture and audio periodically
through the first half of the race, then the audio was out of sync during
the driver interviews afterwards. They topped it off by cutting to
commercial half-way through David Coulthard's comments and never got back to
Barrichello.

Didn't ABC get the main feed from the digital coverage ? There were
indeed problems with the feed in the first half, terrible at times,
but usually, the digital coverage is king of motor racing covreage.

Not really, there is no choice in the UK. If you want the digital 8-channel
F1 experience, then it's 12 and that is that. It's your choice, if you
don't want to pay Murdoch etc. then don't, but if you love F1, then the
interactive F1 channel is excellent. In fact although it's 12 per race,
they had a subscription offer of 50 for the last 7 races.

Matter of opinion, really.  Myself, I find it (US GP aside) interesting,
always fascinating (if only sometimes for the politics) and sometimes
exciting to watch.  Mind you, I've been a BIG Schumi and Ferrari fan for
years, so........

Villeneuve's team......you mean BAR, or British American Racing ?

Current drivers - JV and Olivier Panis
Current Head Honcho - Dave Richards
Current Engine deal - Honda

Based in......UK somewhere :-)

Naa, I wouldn't call than an "All American" Team :-)

Beers and cheers

I've seen the audio out of sync several times this year, even on SpeedTV.  But,
cutting away from the interviews for a commercial was pretty damn stupid...

Actually, it was Bernie's own crew this time. No local directors for his
digital channels! I must say I liked it better too. Interesting to watch the
rev counters. The rev band is much wider than I would have thought, from
10,000 - 18,000 rpm (Cosworth) to 13,000 - 19,000 in the Ilmor engine. The
Cosworth seemed torquier too.

Bye,
Leo
