Yeah, I know...<g>
Is it possible to pass the International License test *without* using a wheel?
After failing a couple of the tests 20 times STRAIGHT, I'm starting to have my
doubts... :(

hi,

Are you referring to GT3 or the original Playstation 1 title?

My experience has been that the original game had the toughest
licenses.   It took me more than a month to finish the final set.

GT2's licenses went by in a few days.  Not much of a challenge.  GT3
seems closer to GT2 than GT1 in difficulty.  I've only done the first
2 licenses though(my PS2 is barely a few days old).  The first test
with the corvette on the wet circular track had me both cursing the
joypad and marvelling at the replays!  good fun.

Great game though.

Its no GPL, but GPL is no GT3 :)

Considering that what I've seen and heard of the significant evolution
Tekken Tag has made to Tekken 4, I hope a similar evolution occurs
from GT3 to the next generation of PS2 racing titles.  I await Ferrari
355 with interest(sh*t.  I promised I won't play ferrari again since
sunday).

oh well.

Regards all,
istoff

what are we talking about getting all gold or just getting the licences,
as far as I remember I managed to get all gold in the first 1 and had
a hard time in the last 1,(GT the original w/gamepad) but in the new
GT3 I was able to get gold in all of them but only w the wheel w
the gamepad I was only able to get gold in the b licence

Yep. In GT, GT2, GT3 with the stock controller.  BTW, don't bother trying the
Gamester ProRacer hand-held PS2 wheel.
Didn't try for the golds myself until GT3.  Have all in the GT3 B and A
license golds as well as the first 5 of the Int'l-B, but I don't think I can
deal with the frustration any longer than that!

GT2 on the PS1with the original controller, passed the driving licence.
Toughest test is the Viper at Laguna Seca in slower than 1.17 IIRC. Just
tried that again on  Sunday...

I passed the test in GT2 quite easily, and thought that was pretty easy.
Then later, i noticed a new page on the license, that said super license..
oh well.. back to work.
There are 2 I havent done yet, one is the Alfa at night around the track in
italy, and the other,.. well
dont remember really if its the mini around the "rally track".

I'm just trying to GET the effing license.  I don't care if they're all
BRONZE...  I can't do it.
So of course, I can't even run almost 1/3 of the events now... :(

Just a little note, saying I can't do it, is just wrong
Sit your ass down and keep telling yourself :
I CAN do it, and that is half the battle, believe
that you can and then you'll see!!! Just try it,
Never mind there is no such thing as TRY,
you either DO or you DON'T, Just my $0.02

In GT2 the bronze times are much slower than the silver and gold, and you
get a tick in the box if you fail a test enough times so you can pass the
license.

I played GT and GT2 using a DualShock controller, with the analogue
sticks set for throttle on the left / steering on the right like
my R/C transmitter.  That seemed to work well; it also got me creating
setups which others find far too pointy, which is exactly what I do
with the model cars too ;-)

If you're not using *some* form of analogue controller, Eldred, maybe
it's worth trying.

Never gotten into going for the gold in all the events, but did pass all
license tests in GT1-2-3 - finally.  GT3's International test of the GT40 at
Seattle II just about drove me crazy trying to pass it.  I use the DS
controller, with sticks for throttle/brake and steering.  Don't know why,
but I just couldn't get that one until I finally went to a Super Beetle and
ran dozens of laps with it.  Once I was on the qualifying time, I switched
over to the GT40 and passed on the first try.  Wish I had a wheel because
the DS controller bothers my shoulder, but I will wait until I can afford a
PC/PS2 wheel.

BTW - There's quite a group of Gold Junkies here:
http://www.racesimcentral.net/'ve
accomplished are totally amazing when you see the replays.
