wheel?

I'll have to ask my son, I think he has his, all with a paddle.  He's
getting a wheel for his birthday in a month.  (Who am I kidding, that's so I
can play ;-)

Hehe...can't keep up otherwise, huh? :-)  Maybe I need to bribe some 12-year
old kid to pass the tests for me...<g>

I knew there were cheats to get the cars, which I didn't want to do.  I
*didn't* know there were cheats for the licenses...thanks!
I don't WANT to cheat, but if that's the only way I can use the whole game, I
might have to resort to that... :(
Wait - I just looked at that page again.  What's an "x-ploder"?  Something
tells me I *still* can't use those codes.

Apologies Eldred... I didn't read that page thoroughly enough. An X-Ploder
is apparently a bit of hardware which allows for cheats which weren't
included in original games (http://www.blaze.de/).

Sorry mate.

That's OK Jan.  He surely wasn't going to stoop to using it anyway.   ;O)

Just put it away, go to your nearest Walmart/BestBuy/whatever, and get a PS2
at the new MSRP of $199, plus GT3 for $20!

Actually, gameplay hasn't advanced much at all from the original, but the
graphics are absolutely phenomenal, the sound is far superior, and there are a

fair number of new interesting cars.

Having said that, GT2 was superior in number of cars including interesting
oldies.  GT3 unfortunately did away with all used cars except the Trueno (rwd
Corolla GTS), first gen Miata, second gen MR2, and del Sol (why include this
but not the CRX?!).  GT2 also had more tracks.  GT3 did add "Cote d'Azur", aka

Monaco GP circuit.

At the new price, HIGHLY recommended for all simmers except those who just
can't accept any realism compromises.

Been there.  Done that.   :O)

I hate all those games that don't have all the areas and cars (whatever)
available until you run their version of some "perfect run" test.

Over & over & & over & over & over & over & over & over . . . . .

Nice thought, but I can't afford it.  I couldn't even afford N2002,
remember...?

I use a SharkPort from gameshark.com, which connects via USB connections to
my laptop and the PS2.  I can save replays and fast practice laps to the PC,
and also keep my entire card save safely tucked away in case the memory card
goes bad.  Also great for exchanging laps with faster drivers to have a
"ghost" to chase, or verifying runs for race times.

Consider it training.  You won't be able to compete with competition if you
can't pass these tests.  They are hard, certainly, but the reward of
learning how to drive propeerly is worth the effort.  I have passed all the
license tests using the analog steering and the buttons (probably the most
difficult way to use the controller).  You're much better off using the
analog stick for accelerating and braking though.

You might have inspired me to revisit GT1 again.  It certainly was the best
of the series.  If only I can pry myself away from WoO:SC 2002 on the PS2
first.
