N4/DirectX 8 Wheel Problems

I have a TSW that I rewired with a Thrustmaster harness.  It works great.

The problem is that I installed N4 and DirectX 8 and now Windows refuses to
recognize my wheel & pedals.  I can get N4 and GPL to work through the games'
controller routines, but any game which doesn't have that sort of routine, such
as SCGT and GP3, will not recognize my wheel & pedals.

Yes everything worked just fine before I installed N4.

Anybody got any suggestions?
