ECCI wheel and DirectX 8

Ok, So I run out to the store today and grab Nascar 4. Install the game, no
problem. I'm able to configure my wheel inside the game using the optimized
driver, which I always use in Papryus games because I think it works better
with my ECCI wheel.  Everything is ok. Then the fun begins.

I exit Nascar 4 and just for the heck of it, I fire up Nascar Heat. Suprise,
my ECCI wheel no longer is working. I can steer fine, but my gas and break
pedals are broke.

I leave Nascar Heat, go the *** Options control panel. Which I notice has
been renamed in DirectX 8. Up until now, I have been configuring my ECCI
wheel using the "Thrustmaster Formula 1/T2 without Adapter" controller
listing. Up until now, that has always worked just fine. Now, I cannot
configure the pedals. Both pedals are completely dead in the calibration
mode...

Does anyone have any ideas what to do????

Use the 3-axis/4-button option and recalibrate, this is how I have all of my
ECCI systems configured.

Try the recommended ECCI setting of 2 axis 4 button joystick.

I've tried both the 2 axis/4 button and the 3 axis/4 button options. Neither
work. I also did check the ECCI website where they have page on calibration
issues...

It has to be related to DirectX 8. My wheel has been working perfectly up
until I installed Nascar 4 and DirectX 8. I should also point that my wheel
is still working perfectly using the Papyrus optimized driver. It's only
when I use the DirectX drive does it not function.

Seeing as the other suggestions have failed you could try doing what I did
when my pedals stop working (T2 on a sblive value) when I installed DX8.

The problem was with msanalog.vxd.  Get a copy of it from DX7 (DX7AENG.EXE)
and overwrite the version DX8 has put in your \windows\system directory.

Just a shot but try installing Direct X 8a and see if that helps. Also, what
OS are you using. I had the same peoblem and after I booted in safe mode and
took all game and sound related entries out of my system control panel I
reinstalled widows over it and everything worked fine.

I had some trouble with my wheel a while ago. I had to install it as a 4axis
4button
steering is x, Y is not used and the pedals are the other axis. This is the
only way it works for me.
