Just picked up the game at TJ Max for $10 last night (and
who says shopping with the wife doesn't work) are there any
tips to getting better resolution in the game?

Is the game only optimized for 3DFX and Rendition?
It's running under software mode and looks terrible.
Can I make it look better running with my TNT2 card?

Thanks

Yep, get the opengl driver at www.papy.com

BUT if you can get a 3dfx 2, CHEAP, USED...it will change your game,
RADICALLY, then the problem will be to drag your wife in a used parts
shop....try to lie.

Get the beta opengl thingie at www.papy.com.  Make sure you read the
readme that comes with it.  You may also want to get nvidia 3.68 or
higher 3.xx (not 5.xx) drivers at www.nvidia.com.  And set buffer flip
to block transfer in advanced display settings.

Also, upgrade the game to version 1.2

1. Install the 1.2 patch from Papy if you haven't already.

2. Turn mirror detail to "Cars Only".  High mirror detail looks
lovely, but really hammers the frame rate unless you've really got a
bodaceous system with a Voodoo in it.  There's a setting in my
Glide.Ini file for "Mirror Frequency" where you can set how many
frames get displayed before the mirrors get updated.  This ini file is
for Voodoo cards, but it *may* be possible to use this setting in the
core.ini file.  Perhaps someone else has experience with that and can
elaborate.

3. As someone else already suggested, change Buffer Flipping to "Block
Transfer Mode" in the display driver settings.

4. Get thee to http://vroc.net after you install the GPL 1.2 patch and
download WinVROC so you can come race on-line with us!  There's also
some terrific links on that page where you can get lots of good
information on tuning GPL, tuning your internet connection for optimal
on-line performance, etc.

Good luck and I hope we'll see you on line soon!

You gentlemen are too kind.

Glad to see some civility still on the net.
I just wondered if its because of the time period that GPL
comes from???
The days when people still had manners.

There's a topic for some college student.
