That was me :-)
There wern't too many people interested in GPL at E3. That was how I was
able to get in my seat time. It was an un-impressive display compared to the
sound, light, and booth-bunny mega shows going on elsewhere. It was also in
the less active side of the show.
The few people that did try it out had too hard a time getting the car to go
anywhere without falling off the track, and lost intrest almost immiadiatly.
The comment I herd most was that it had a z-axis and that allowed the car to
have better crashes. Nothing about more realistic handling and road feel.
I had better talk with Mark from 3DO about army men and HighHeat Baseball
than I did with Dave from Papy, and I diddn't have any special intrest in the
3DO titles, I just happened to be there.
They really wern't into hyping the papy stuff. I also found out that alot of
lists and things have to be bought into by the marketing dept. We always
suspect these things, but it hurts to actually hear it from a game producer.
I basicly came away from E3 with a really bad taste in my mouth for the
*** industry. I have not even fired up any games in the last week since
getting back. I was there seeing a friend who has been producing games since
the beginning of time. I don't think I would go to E3 again.
I was also dissapointed in lack of intrest in my orig***post by this
group. If the simmers here aren't e***d then how could the gamming press be
??
