GPL was unseen at E3?????

I stopped by Sierra's press room several times throughout the show and there
was always some press person trying out GPL.  My suspicion is that there will
be more press in the *** mags coming out in the next couple of months.

Mike from Papyrus was kind enough to let me leave with a pre-alpha copy of the
game and while there are a few places that are still rough, all in all, it is
one great game.  I haven't had as much time to drive it as I would like (yes,
we do work here occasionally) and I still spend a little too much time plowing
the fields.  But there are lots of tracks and lots of cars.  We've done some
network racing here and it is very smooth.  I can't wait for the next version!

You're correct there, Bruce.
According to the GM-interview it should be a total of 20
So, this means they (Papy) are negotiating 2 more.

Quote"Up to twenty players (any combination of human and AI) may compete in
a race. "end of quote.

But, who and/or how many we will only know, as allways, just before the
start of the season :-)

Great, if that is so.
I have only seen reference to 18 drivers *names* and 4 *teams* but no
reference to the actual field size.

Back in 1967 fields varied......could be anything from a dozen to two
dozen cars.  Note also that it was not unusual for some venues to mix F2
with the F1 cars to make up the numbers or to run the F2 championship
concurrently if the F1 numbers were low.

What's the bet that soon after release we see 40 car carsets as in ICR2, etc. How many
are in the shipped product's carset will probably be irrelevent within a month. It will be
a simple matter of  having a cpu with enough grunt to run 40 AI cars.

Hi Edwin,

Yes, minor damage can be addressed during a race, but there's no
option for any other types of stops.  As Bruce pointed out, it
isn't needed in recreating an authentic time piece, but kills a
bit of the game-play add-ons that had made past sims so wonderful
(i.e. TPTCC for N2).

Cheers!

Marc

So basiclly what you're saying here is that there will be no options to
change tires and refuel, whilch would be nessecary for a Sportscar add-on??

If so... DAMMIT!! I had some very good plans abotu running an endurance
league;
You know...
1000 km's at Monza
1000 Km's at Spa
1000 km's at Nurburgring
6hrs at the Glen
All the works.... man could have been awsome stuff... all online ofcourse!!

Well lets hope Papy can give us a **real** sportscar simulator some day. You
know, Can-Am, IMSA, WSC or a Group C sim. Now **that** would be awsome!!

Best,
Edwin Solheim

Well, for me, GPL is just beginning.  The demo was reasonable on my
P100 (what, Keeper no longer has his 486??) with Rendition card, but
once I put in my new motherboard and a K6 300MHz processor (yes!), my
second lap was 20 seconds quicker than I had done on the P100, and only
a few laps later did I get a 1:15.  With practice I'm sure I can get
that down.  It's unbelievably smooth (of course, how it'll look with
a field of competitors is yet to be seen), and the car handling is so
incredible that all other racing sims now are just disappointing to
play!

Is there a facility to save screenshots in the demo?  I tried hitting
the backslash key, and the drive did seem to write something, but darned
if I can find what it was doing.  Too bad, 'cause I managed to get the
wall going THROUGH my car, pulling out the left rear wheel about ten feet.
Pretty impressive for a demo without a damage model in it.  It was not a
nice accident...
