***E3 NEWS -- NASCAR3 WILL NOT USE GPL ENGINE***

The SimRacingOnline (http://www.racesimcentral.net/) E3 report mentions
that Sean Gleason, Director of Marketing for Sierra Sports, has stated
that because of technical issues the GPL physics won't be a part of
the Legends sim, nor will they be in the release of N3. Sean explained
that the GPL physics never worked properly for N3, and that Papyrus
didn't have enough time to get it right and have it released on time
(N3 is already several months behind schedule).

Now, let the teeth-gnashing begin . . .

NASCAR Legends will not use the GPL engine. It is a completely
different title than NASCAR 3/2000. Read the article again carefully
and you will see that yourself. I am still convinced that N3/2000 will
be based around the GPL engine.

Perhaps *you* should read the article again.  N3 will *not* be using the
GPL engine.  Anything can happen between now and release.  I guess you'll
have to wait and purchase it to be convinced one way or another.

No need for teeth-gnashing... just start a collection so Papyrus can buy their
independence back. Either that or track down Sierra's marketing team and threaten
them with big sticks... heck, why not do the stick thing anyway! :-)

Andrew McP... against guns but I never said anything about a damned good kicking!

I am revoking my last statement as I have read the simracing.com
article again and Remarq does not allow cancels. All I can say now is
that I seriously hope this Director of Sierra Sports doesn't really
know what he is talking about.

Uh, this is a direct copy/paste from the article:

Two sims using the GPL physics? Nope! Sean said that because of
technical issues the GPL physics won't be a part of the Legends sim,
nor will they be in the release of N3. That's right folks. The long
awaited sequel to N2 WON'T be using the physics engine from Grand Prix
Legends!

Note it says Legends *OR* N3!!!

appear? Just curious."nor" and "or" have different meanings.

Sometimes I hate the way that Usenet works. Within a short time after
posting my original message I posted a retraction, since my news
server does not allow cancels. In a perfect world, messages would
propagate immediately after they are submitted:)

OK, OpSports posted a feature on Monday where they visited Papy.  They
said NASCAR Legends wouldn't use the GPL engine.  They said Papy was
SITTING on N3 until computers catch up to the physics engine
(speed-wise).  This fall will see the release of "NASCAR 2000", which is
detailed in the article.  (Based on the N2 engine, of course.)  *moans*
