Cyrix and ICR2 Problems

My father has a Cyrix 6x86 and picked up ICR2. Loaded it in DOS . When you
boot the game Paul Page comes on sounding like a 33lp playing at 78 or like
the Chipmunks.
Is ICR2 compatible w/ Cyrix chip? In setup mode when testing soundcard it
sounds fine. Is it the computer or the soundcard.?

enough (he has a 133) Any suggestions or answers to ??? appreciated. He
dying to race. Also wants NASCAR 2 hopefully that will run ok.

               Thanks,

I think you should buy your 'pops' an INTEL chip for XMAS :-)

Save your money, I have a Cyrix 166+ and a sound blaster 16 running in
windows 95 and it works just fine in the MS-Dos mode. I also had a Cyrix
133+ and it worked fine with that one. It might be how much RAM you have
or how fast his HD is.

I don't think it's your Cyrix.

I have an Intel P133, and Paul Page's voiceover sounds terrible.  But it's the
only thing that sounds bad.  The game performs like a champ.  I just figured
they made a really bad recording...

Play away, and just don't worry about the opening screen.

ps: I have the Verite ICR2 as well.

I have the same problem with my Cyrix 200+/Ensoniq Soundscape. Sierra's
response
was "You're sound card must not be set up correctly, call Ensoniq" even
though
it works fine with every other piece of software I own.

I'm not playing ICR2 right now...

I think you're sound problem is that you have a PnP sound card that
isn't getting configured properly when you exit from Win95 into MS-DOS
mode.  There is a file called "exit to dos pif" which is the file that
configures you're card for DOS if it's PnP.

Also, check you're dosstart.bat file.  You may need to load a sound card
driver from there.
