ICR2/SVGA/Cyrix 5x86-120
Does anyone have experience with this chip and ICR2 SVGA?
Although this chip is "pentium-like", I am curious if it able to take
advantage of the "pentium optimization" in the ICR2 graphics engine
code as described by Rick in a past post (i.e. even though a 486
dx4-120 is about equivalent to a P75 in benchmarks, the P75 will
outperform the 120 in ICR2 SVGA due to "things" Papyrus can do with
the Pentium architecture).
SVGA useability seems to be a very subjective matter. I have seen posts
where people with dx2-66's say SVGA is fine for them. I have a DX4-120
with highend cpu/video benchmarks for its class, and SVGA is not
suitable for my tastes for "serious" racing.
I would be interested in the following for the Cyrix 5x86-120 & SVGA:
1. fps in SVGA
2. graphic details turned on, # opponents, etc
3. general "feel" as compared to whatever machine you upgraded from
Thanks...Chuck
