It's not the phys/cars/setups

It's the tracks

Bumps where there shouldnt be any - track lacking in smoothness and polys
generally.  My main gripe with F12001 has come back to haunt an otherwise
excellent piece of modding.

We can but hope that future titles from the same stable will improve track
quality and porting the mod will not be too bad

What I orig thought was just the updated mod being too sensitive/critical in
the settings dept - is just the under-sesitivity in the first version hiding
the crappy tracks

As I understand it - track editing for f12001 is very much more difficult
than previous titles so we're unlikely to see much change?

Hi Doug, I think you'll find that as you play with setups you'll be able to
make your chassis less "upset" by the bumps. Bumps are actually a major
concern of real racing teams. Sebring comes to mind, also I think the
Houstan GP track has a few really bad bumps. There is one leading into T1 (I
think) that actually gets the cars airborne and the drivers had to make alot
of adjustments in setup, braking points and driving style to accommadate it.
I think it's the over coming of these "real life" problems that can make
sims truely enjoyable...

Having driven and tested FF1600 at Castle Combe, Pembrey and Silverstone (
the former being notoriously bumpy) I can safely say - it's REALLY not as
bad as F12001's made it out to be

Agreed, Brooklands in particular is way overdone, like a rollercoaster

Next time someone see's F1 cars bouncing round a corner, let me know

and PS - GT cars do NOT take off when going over the top of Eau Rouge

Are you referring to a track issue or a car issue again Doug?
It's obvious that the crest at eau rouge is also restricted in the poly
dept.

I think thats the point

Regardless of where the blame lies between the car settings and the track
polys - they just SHOULDNT take off.

They didnt in Version 1 - (unless you went to far to the left on the exit)
and that was cool - but they do in V2 - and thats un cool.

laps of fuel :D) - once I'd sorted the brake bias I went

"NOW We're getting somewhere"

Now damnit - where are all the setups like THAT one :D

LOL... really, I'm only starting to nail them properly now. The way the cars
operate, they are so sensitive to the setup.

Cars taking off was really cool in "Taxi 2".
Great film, as was "Taxi" with loads of exciting chases. Who was the French rally driver
at the start ? I missed that.

Just wondering, is anyone working on a patch to make the ai race the oval at
Indy? and the timing work? Is it even possible? It would be cool.

I had some fun with the V1 car settings and ended up tweaking a Lister to
340 mph round the oval :D

Just a bit of fun (as peter snow would say)

Give a man an oval and he'll find a way to hack the file for more speed,
either remove the plates or add to the grip or lower the drag, or double the
horsepower or whatever...:)  boys will be boys...next they'll try and figure
out how to drive while floating majically above and behind the
cars...sheesh....

Ian,

Why do your setups often only have 1L of fuel?
