I'm sure its a bit subjective, but i'm looking for the cleanest cars
and***pits. I've found a lot of them out there but would like some
opinions from you guys..

Thanks

I should add I current run at 1600x1200 with all graphics cranked and
get close to 30 FPS at all times..

I can't help on the best graphics, but if you're running GPL at any less
than 36fps you are not getting the best driving experience.
It's better to lose some eye candy and keep the framerate up IMO

Speaking of 36fps, has anyone ever found a way to increase that limit?  Does
anyone know why Papy imposed such a low limit - after all, it's not like GPL
uses a silly CPU occupancy system like GPx.  Even increasing the limit from
36fps to 50fps would make a considerable improvement to the driving
experience.

Sorry, I should have worded that differently.. I get no LESS than 30
FPS at the start with 19 cars around me. Now where are those files!!

No, and if you do a search on this group, you'll soon discover that it's
been discussed to death several times before. This would be one of the many
improvements in GPL2 if it ever appears (just like NR2002 etc).

www.gplea.org  for all their currently completed car updates, the lotus and the cooper are best
currently using add-ons linked from www.gplpp.com under the cars section.  If soon after the start
of a race, you're not returning to a full 36fps, you need to turn down some of the eye candy, 36fps
is almost essential for proper racing.

I'm sure someone else will give you the details but the frame rate is tied
to the physics engine frequency so the maximum fps is 36.

Yup,
quite often the detail slider is not optimized and much to far right.
I personally don't see a difference on anything higher than 30% from left.
