F1GP - keyboard problem

by Michael Hall » Tue, 18 Jan 1994 08:19:45

My new computer came with a very nice Honeywell keyboard.  The only problem
is that while playing F1GP when I attempt to change gears (space bar) while
accelerating ('a' key) around a corner ('<' or '>') nothing happens.  The same
problem occurs when I attempt to change down while breaking into a corner.
To change gears I have to quickly release one of the other keys.

Has anyone experienced something similar, or does anyone have a solution.  With
the new computer I upgraded to DOS 6.2 (from 5.0).  Is it the keyboard or a
problem with the configuration of the PC?  Thanks,

Playing F1GP with a keyboard??? That is very, very, very SAD.

Why don`t you buy a joystick, or even better a decent computer - maybe an
A4000!

Listen butthead, some people can't afford joysticks. I hate to tell you this
but the keyboard can work just as well if you know how to drive.

Anyway, to respond to the person with the keyboard problem. I too play this
game with the keyboard (and for the information of a select bunch of pompous
people out there still turn some competitive lap times realtive to whats
been posted). Anyway I'm digressing. No I have not had this problem. One thing
you may want to check is that you are hitting the spacebar and not one of
the "alt" keys (I've done this on occassion with disastrous results). I
don't know that it makes a difference, but I'm running DOS 6.0 not 6.2. Good
luck working out your problem.

Sad? I quote:- "C= AMIGA Have you got what it takes?". Sad? You betcha.

1) Joysticks are for people who only know how to manipulate things with
their fists. Do you manipulate anything with your fist, Oliver?
2) Ask yourself, would anyone who had a decent computer have to ASK if
a version of F1ED was available for their machine? Can you say ORIC-1?

Not exactly the m***high ground, is it?

Check the follow up line before posting.

No sadder than digital joysticks, and a good keyboard is often more
comfortable to use, especially for long races.

Without getting into the intricacies of exactly why a PC is often preferable
(ICR is a pretty good reason for people on this group), I could point out
the issue of cost. If you check current adverts, a 486-66 8Mb-340MbDisc with
15" display costs about the same as a 4000-030 with less memory, no display
and less than a third of the processing capability. Keep these type of
things on comp.sys.* please.

What is an A4000?  Some sort of fancy joystick?  I'll keep an eye-out in the
shops.  Actually my new computer ain't too bad.  I've gone from 10 fps with

keyboard too was a real bonus, if only it didn't have this small problem.  You're
right though, a joystick would be nice.  I'll see if I can see one of these
A4000s  :-)

In recent posts there was talk of a World Circuit editor, for drivers,
teams, colors etc. The name given was f1ed103.zip or something.

I have tried to locate this editor on ftp sites but failed to see it
anywhere! So could someone post a precise location so that i and possibly
others like me can go get it ?
