Does anyone have a solution to this problem:  keyboard works fine in menus,
in game (race/qual...) after 15 key presses the computer starts beeping and
momentatrily freezes the screen.  Means I can't use the keyboard during
play?  Tough to see the replay of Schumy trying to take me out.......

Any suggestions?

What brand computer do you have.  I have a Dell D266 and I have the
same problem but even worse.  I can't run an entire race because I can't
use my key board to make/select pitstop options.  I was told by
Microprose that Dell went of on their own and did something different
and the keyboard will not fully support GP2.

Hi Andrew,

I have exactly the same problem. My machine is a Compaq Presario notebook
with AMD K-6 233-MMX. The only way to play the game is to use a joystick and
not toutch the keyboard. If you find any solution, send it also to me. I
will apreciate a lot.

Roberto

Hi Andrew,

I've had that problem, the solution has been posted on r.a.s. before.
Use KEYB.COM, that solves the problem.

Cheers!

Remco.

Hmmm, actually since I read every message on r.a.s. for years, I never heard
a solution was posted before.  I have this problem on my DELL Pc since my
P200mmx (my old PC), and still have it on my new one.

Keyb.com can be found in the C:\Windows\COMMAND  folder. So what you are
saying is that you just execute the program, and run Gp2 after ? In DOS and
Win'95 mode ?

Hi, thanks.  Could you be more specific.  Just run this program?  See next
post.  Details would be appreciated - I think that there are many others who
could use this.  It's funny that Microprose doesn't have this on their web
site.....

My problem is identical, and it appears we are not the only on.  There
is a solution in a later post regarding keyb.com but I can't seem to
make that work yet.  Waiting for details....

Interesting, I have a Compaq Presario 4540 AMD 233.  It may be that there is
no solution?

Hi Stefan (and others),

Pffffffff! (Sound of blowing dust of DOS manual)

KEYB.COM, found in the \WINDOWS\COMMAND directory is a DOS TSR, and
should be loaded in the following way:

for US:    \WINDOWS\COMMAND\KEYB US,437,\WINDOWS\COMMAND\KEYBOARD.SYS
for UK:    \WINDOWS\COMMAND\KEYB UK,437,\WINDOWS\COMMAND\KEYBOARD.SYS
for NL:   \WINDOWS\COMMAND\KEYB NL,850,\WINDOWS\COMMAND\KEYBOARD.SYS

You could place the command in the AUTOEXEC.BAT, but a better way is
to create a batch file for starting GP2, and place the command there.

Hope this helps,

Cheers!

Remco

Hi,
You know I'm not positive as I have the same problem if I use more
than just a tap on the O key too many times it stops working.
But I think I read somewhere this is due to this type of keyboard? The 104
key windows type keyboards. It would be interesting to try it with an older
keyboard and see. I will try to dig one up and let you know.
