: You have the use the brake (Z) with de spacebar to downshift the
: gearbox.
This does depend on how you've configured the keys though.  I belive the
gearchange keys are SPACE and ALT, but  you can use them in 2 ways:
1) SPACE changes up, ALT changes down (or vice versa)
2) One key (ALT or SPACE) does BOTH changes, depending on wether you are
   accelerating or braking.
The "upside down U" gear is so you can do 180 degree spins etc to get
pointing in the right direction after an Off.  The gearbox IS sequential,
so you have to go through them in order.
The good news is that F1GP2 uses the same system - so you won't have to
re-learn!
