video cards and cpu's for gp2

Hi. Can someone tell me which video card is best
suited for gp2. I'm running a ati 4meg card and get
some respectable frame rates on my p166 but it seems
like:according to all the postings here that the matrox
cards are far superior. Also, any recomendations about
cpu's would also be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

If your only concern is GP2, then the choice of video card is not so important
as they do not make much difference. You can better spend the money on a fast
processor and/or mainboard that supports clock speeds of 83 MHz. This will improve
your frame rates in GP2 significantly!

For more information about the influence of hardware on GP2, take a look at the
GP2 occupance page which can be found at: http://VOLftp.tin.it/GP2/fr_index.htm

Hope this will help.

Frank, for DOS-based 2d stuff (GP2) you can't go wrong with an ET-6000
based card... Hercules makes one for about $120 street, and there are
several clones around for about $85 mail order.  However, there are
supposed to be some 3d cards out there that are nearly as fast... this
should be kept in mind.  Poke aroung PC Gamer and mags like that for the
latest info.  For CPUs, it looks like the new Pentium II is going to
blast everything else off the road, Windows or DOS (see Tom's Hardware
Guide on the net), but get out your checkbook ($1200 street for II-233
CPU and mobo).

Rgds, Mark
