I'm in the process of upgrading to a P166 & I need a new video card as
well. Any comments on cards that work/don't work well with GP2?

One of the best for not that kind of expensive money, should be a
Diamond Stealth 64DRAM.
TOEDELEDOKI.
1) Hecules Dynamite 128 (2Mb MDRAM)
2) Matrox Millenium (non-OEM with 2Mb WRAM)
3) Hercules Stingray 64 (21202V with 2Mb EDO-DRAM)
In that order, those are the best cards at present (i.e. fastest!) :)
Have fun,
John

Hi Al,
If you look in Sim Racing News (July issue) in the hardware section,
there's a graph which shows what kind of boost each video card will give
at various CPU speeds - as you will see, a good card can give a BIG
performance boost in terms of framer displayed on your monitor per
second. This equates to greater feedback from the car, smoother driving
from you and faster speeds (theoretically of course!!).
Hope it's useful for you....
Cheers!
John

Actually the Hercules Dynamite 128 shades the Millenium on both price
and performance....

I agree with one qualification and this may not mean much but here
goes. I have the exact same puter as two friends (same guy built them)
they have Herc Dynamite 128cards I have a Herc 64/video 1mb. In
DUKENUKEM3d using the framrate counter and in 800x600 mode at the same
place in the game with the same options I get 2-3 frames better. Wierd
but true, but the great thing is the Dynamite is so fast in WINDOZ.
PAPA DOC
hehe Not quite. But it does smoke in windows.

To be honest, I've never checked. I personally don't give a damn if my
Win95 screen displays a little quicker, that's not very important to me.
I am looking for performance where I need it, and adequacy where I
don't.
I don't like giving info I haven't checked myself, but all info I have
shows that the 128 is a very good Win performer as well, perhaps not
quite as good as the Millenium, but no slouch. I haven't checked this
for myself. and as I don't have a Millenium anymore, I'm unlikely to be
able to :(
Sorry,
John
