Which Video card? - Any help appreciated

by Steve Payn » Tue, 10 Apr 2001 22:03:38

Hi all,

Okay, it's time for a new graphics card (I think), I currently have a
V3-3000 sitting with a Athlon 800 (slot-A) 128 Mb RAM & Asus MB.  My
*** platform is Win98SE.

Favourites games - GPL, F12KCS, GP3 and (FS2000 - OT I know).

I am thinking of going to a GF2.  My questions for you guys are
this...

1. Is the extra money worth going from 32Mb to 64Mb?
2. Having a Athlon are there any incompatibilities?
3. MX or GTS?
4. Are there any issues with the above games?

TIA for any help / advice.

GTS I would say.  Plus you need to get the D3D Renderer from Papy for GPL.

64mb is worth it yes when you get frame rates in Nascar 4 at like 90fps!

I wouldn't recommend an MX - I replaced a V3 with an MX and found no
improvement in most car sims and a definite step backwards in GPL. Sent the
MX back and saving for something better (GTS?).
         Cheers...

Consider a GForce2 type card.
