I need N4 Help !!!

by rdrace » Mon, 11 Jun 2001 10:33:12

I use to be able to play this game with my lwff wheel
I got so pissed off that i couldnt caliberate
that i broke my wheel, and if any of u know fixing a lwff is a pain in the
ass but its now fixed again
spring popped off is all from *** hard lefts and rights
trying to caliberate
ok here is the question that i cannot figure out
when i turn the wheel to the Right it goes Left
and visa versa what is up with that ??
i asked this question a few days ago and one person offered the solution of
turning first to the left
well i tried that and in calberation mode if u turn left first it actually
does go to the right in caliberation mode
but after a few turns R And L it fixes it self in caliberation mode but when
i go to the game its backwards again
plz help !!!!!!!!
I have a LWFF wheel and i've tried it with FF off and on
and still same problem
THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE WHEEL
it works fine in all of my other games !!!!!!!!!!!
I hope someone can help ??

My copy of the game should arrive tomorrow (Tuesday) morning. I own an LWFF
and will let you know how I get on. If everything works for me, we'll
compare configurations.

I notice that many times after I have switched from wheel to joystick
(for flight sims) and back to wheel, I get the same thing.  In N4, I
choose "calibrate controller" (or whatever) and move the controller
through full range of motion.  Then go back to the screen where you
set the controller to specific game actions.  Click "steering" with
the mouse so it gives you the prompt to set a control axis for
steering and be sure to turn LEFT.  This always clears it up for me,
YMMV.

Sorry rd...

Installed N4 today and no probs whatsoever.

Just like in GPL it takes moving the wheel through it's full range of motion
before left/right are correct, but no problems in the game after setting
controls, not even when I unplug it or swap ID with my Wingman Force stick
an back.

PIII 655 oc'd to 866, 256Mb RAM, Voodoo3-3000, SB PCI512 (no 3D sound).
Win98se, Dx8.0 since installing N4 (no probs with other games so far either)
Full N4 install and patched to 4.1.1.0
800x600x16, mirror detail medium, car detail medium, 43 cars, 12 ahead - 3
behind, 16 sounds, about 35 fps in traffic, less on starts/restarts.
