I've been racing F1RS since December. So I think I've been
there and done that. I need to run config, but the "Choose
Command" to set up the throttle/brake and shift up/down won't
let me set them.
I just added a Quantum3D Obsidian 2 X-24. Should be pretty
hot.
I removed and replaced F1RS because it couldn't find a
3DFX card, no big deal. I patched it to 1.09. Then I started
it and ran config.
Of course, the brake/throttle are bound to buttons, and
the shift up/down are axis by default. I'd like to talk to
the idiot who came up with that.
This is no big deal, we just click on one of the controls,
the "Choose Command" button lights up, we assign a temporary
key, and shift the functions around to where they need to be.
The problem is that the "Choose Command" light goes on for
a short fraction of a second and blinks out. I can't assign a
key, or anything else, to the functions.
I've calibrated my ECCI, I've replaced it with my T1 and
calibrated, same problem.
When I remove the analog inputs at the control panel, the
problem goes away. I go into config, I can click on one of
the control buttons and the "CHOOSE COMMAND" light goes on,
and stays on till I choose a key.
Like I said, I'm one of the F1RS veterans. I know what
to do. However, that doesn't mean I can't be stupid. Am
I missing something?
I'm going to***with this until 6:00 PDT U.S. Then
I'll pull the Quantum and replace it with the Pure3D. I'll
reload the old system state from tape and I should be ready
for my buddies. These guys are Aces of the Pacific/Europe
fanatics who HATED every racing sim I've had, they LOVE F1RS.
I did start a race, and stepped into a different car.
The Obsidian ran, it seemed pretty fast on my old PPro. I
hope I can get a report on to to you.
Thanks
Larry
