Don't know how you can be so sure.
Here's a simple test. Leave SST1INIT.DLL where it is & remove glide.dll -
try & install F1rs & it fails to recognise you have a voodoo card & only
allows D3D. It is clear that F1rs does indeed look for glide.dll as a way of
recognising the presence of a voodoo card.
This was well documented after the release of Orchid's 3.0 drivers whose
install routine removed glide.dll and failed to replace it (they have since
released a modified set with the error corrected).
