GTR2002 Graphic glitch

Hello folks,

Anyone got any idea why I should be having a strange problem after
upgrading my CPU from a 1GHz Athlon to an Athlon XP2100+ ?

The problem:

In the main menu, with the rotating car, and all ingame driving views,
there are flashing lines and polygons appearing around the car,
seemingly random. The same problem also now happens in F1 2002,
although before the CPU change all was fine with both.

So far I have tried (without success):

Set my gf4 back to stock clock speeds (from 312/712).
Changed all sorts of graphics options, in game and in the drivers.
Re-run 3d config program.
Re-installed Detonators 43.45 and now 43.51.

It seems nothing makes any difference at all, quite annoying as I was
really looking forward the extra speed of the XP. Everything else runs
very nicely, getting over 10,000 in 3dMark2001.

System config:

Win 98 SE

Abit KT7A-Raid Bios ver A9 (Raid disabled)
Zalman CNPS-6000Cu flower cooler

400w PSU
Geforce4 Ti4600 (now at stock speeds)
512Mb 133MHz SDRAM
El-cheapo PCI soundcard
3COM & Realtek NICs
60,20 & 20Gb IDE

Using VIA 4in1 vers 4.38, as recommended by Abit for this board.

If I've forgotten anything important please let me know.

TechAde.

I've seen the same thing from time to time.  I think I answered this
already!?  :)

I'd first suggest backing down the front side bus.  But the real key may
be the many video drivers you have used.  THe 40+ detonators have some
files that are not perfectly compatible with the pre-40's.  There is a
utility around that was supposed to make sure all the older files got
properly erased.  Plus there is a utility called 'detonator destroyer' that
also cleans up alot of excess video driver mess.  Finally you can search
for files that start with nv*.* and erase those.  Ultra finally you can
search through your registry for nvidia references and delete any that are
driver releated...(back up your registry first.)
Once you have thouroughly cleaned out all trace of previous drivers, then
follow the nvidia readme for installing the new files.  good luck

Dave, backing down the fsb did the trick. Well, not really backing it
down, but having it set so it's not overclocking the fsb. Now got it
at 17*133 (2266MHz on boot screen) and it plays like a dream.

Gotta admit though I didn't notice you already suggested that, and
I've just credited Chickenman on the GTR forum with all the thanks -
you deserve some too :)

Cheers,

TechAde.
