F1RS Graphic Glitch

I've had this problem since the first F1RS demo so long ago, but
it's only now that I'm getting frustrated...

When using the in-car view, a large portion of the***pit is
invisible.  That is, the bottom half of the***pit texture is displayed
properly while console readouts and rev lights are suspended in mid-air.
Is there a quick fix for this problem?

It almost sounds like you have some custom***pit art or something.
Or... You have a graphics driver problem.

        I'm using a clean version of F1RS patched to v1.09.  I've got
DirectX 5.2 installed as well as Glide 2.46.  Mind you, this problem
occurred regardless of patch, DirectX or Glide versions I've used!

As an aside, my in-cockpit view also screws up in Longbow 2...

Hmm that is weird. Do you have a voodoo2?

Voodoo 1.  Diamond Monster 3d, to be precise.

Well I have the same card and don't have those problems. If
all of your drivers are installed properly then I guess I have no
idea what the problem is. I know  it works here, so I still suspect
a video driver problem. Sorry.

 Martin,
I bought my copy of the English (British) F1rs last Christmas, so I have
been fooling with this exact same problem for eight months now! I have tried
every patch, Glide driver, combination of patch and driver, spells and
incantations (<ggg.>) you name it. I run an Orchid card and have never had a
single problem running the sim. Everything works great, except as you
describe, floating shift lights and such. It's weird, but like you I wish I
could fix it. I even downloaded some new***pits and tried those, they look
great, on the bottom half!! If you ever figure this out please drop me a
line <ggg.>
Good luck, all the best, Mike

The story I heard - it was a hardware problem with some early voodoo cards. The
only known solution was to replace the card.

You're not the first to have this problem. I've seen screenshots of it too and
know exactly what you are seeing. I'd send an email to 3dfx and Diamond and see
if they'll do good by you and replace it free.

I'm afraid the only thing you guys can do is replace your cards. (or
run in D3D mode)  I had this exact same problem, sent a screen shot to
Ubisoft, and Orchid.  (I had the original R3D) I also posted a screen
shot on the 3Dfx news server.  Of all those Ubisoft did try a few
things, but nothing seemed to work.  During that time, (I got the UK
version as soon as I could, I live in the US)  I had replaced my MB,
RAM, and even my case during upgrades.  When I upgraded to a V2 card,
the problem went away.  I am 100% sure it is some problem with certain
voodoo1 cards.  (from what I could gather, most were Orchid cards that
showed this problem)
I actually couldn't stand the missing***pit art, and ran the game in
D3D mode.  It was a bit slower, but at least I had the full***pit
view. :-)
